Case Background: 

Can Ataklı, the anchor of TELE1 TV Station , who criticized a teacher wearing a headscarf on the Education Information Network (EBA) TV, which started broadcasting for distance education within the scope of the measures taken against the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Ataklı, who has been sued for “denigrating a section of the people on the basis of their social class, race, religion, sect, gender or regional difference”, faces imprisonment from 9 months to 1 year and 6 months. The first hearing will be held on October 7, 2020 at the Istanbul 22. Criminal Court.
