Case Background:

Rojhat Doğru, a former Iraq correspondent for Gale Kurdistan TV, is facing several charges based on a witness statement. Witness claimed seeing Doğru “shoot with a gun in one hand and a camera in the other”.

Doğru was arrested on the charge of “membership of a terrorist organization” on December 5, 2018. He was released on February 26, 2019 with judicial control. During the hearing on October 15, 2019, Doğru’s lawyer requested the judicial control measure to be lifted. Court accepting lawyer’s request lifted the judicial control but imposed a travel ban on journalist, adjourning the next hearing to January 14, 2020.
